Endodontic Treatmant - Root Canal Surgery

An infected root canal can be a painful cause of toothache

root canal surgeryA common cause of toothache is an infected root canal. This is the part of the tooth that caries the blood supply and importantly the nerves that supply the tooth. Infection or inflammation in this area due to tooth decay or damage to the pulp can cause extreme toothache. Root canal surgery involves removal of the infected pulp under local anaesthesia and replacing the canal with medication and a flexible plastic type of material.

This process will prevent the tooth from being removed and once the procedure is completed, the tooth can be restored with a filling or a crown.
