Carotid Disease TreatmentStroke is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the Western World. Temporary loss of vision (Amurosis fugax), difficulty with speech (dysphasia) or a focal loss of function in one or more limbs may signify a Transient Ischaemic Attack (Mini Stroke). Such individuals are at risk of further events and, possibly, a stroke. Such an event may have occurred secondary to disease in the carotid artery (One of the main blood vessels to the brain). This, too, can be diagnosed by an ultrasound scan and treatment initiated as appropriate. |
