Claudication and Critical Limb Ischemia Treatment

The term Claudication was originally coined after I Claudius the Roman Emperor. Although a misnomer the term describes pain in the calf on walking which is relieved by rest. This can be due to extensive underlying atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and may be the harbinger of extensive disease elsewhere. Treatment may simply involve risk factor management. In extreme cases when symptoms are severe and or progressive, further investigation with or without radiological or surgical intervention may be required.

Whatever the problem, feel free to ask for advice, Why not book some time with one of our consultant specialist vascular surgeons. Peace of mind is priceless.
